Measuring Table

What size is my dog, roughly?

Chest and back first. Get a useful starting size—then check the product’s own chart.

Where to measure

Neck · short dashes
Around the lower neck near the shoulders, not high under the jaw.
Chest · long dashes
Around the widest ribcage, just behind the front legs.
Back · solid line
Along the topline, from neck/shoulder base to tail base.
How should the tape sit?

Keep the tape flat and comfortably close — not tight and not hanging loose.

✓ Comfortably flat
× Too tight / compressing
× Too loose / drooping

Measure over the coat as it is normally worn. Do not add a fixed allowance; follow the product’s own measuring instructions.

Should I reuse an old measurement?

Remeasure after growth, weight or body-condition change, a major coat change, a long interval, or a surprising result. Saved measurements are used only when you choose them.

My dog is very fluffy. Do I add extra centimetres?

No fixed extra amount. Measure over the coat as it is normally worn without crushing it, then use the exact product’s instructions.

Chest

Around the widest part of the ribcage, usually just behind the front legs. Keep your dog standing naturally and the tape flat and comfortably close — not tight.

Back

From the base of the neck where it meets the shoulders to the base of the tail, with your dog standing naturally.

Neck

Around the lower base of the neck where the collar naturally sits. Optional: we use it as another cross-check.

Good to know about size boundaries

Chest selects the general band. A chest measurement within 1 cm of a shared boundary returns both options. Back and neck must fit the defined band; those ranges are not extended. Never automatically choose the larger option.
